Susan and Clive live in a detached, Georgian-style house with a large garden. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walkers and there are many historic places nearby, including Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey), Whitchurch Silk Mill and Donnington Castle.
Your teacher
Susan has a university degree in history. Her working knowledge of French means she can help French speakers with their vocabulary. It is particularly helpful for beginners or speakers at elementary level.

Susan
Susan has extensive experience working with local English students of all ages. She likes making her lessons stimulating and fun by using varied and interesting resources tailored to individual needs. She has been hosting foreign students for many years, from young children of 6 to teenagers and adults. Her approach to teaching English as a Foreign Language is methodical, creative and enthusiastic. Susan is happy to teach both adults and young people. She has also had experience in tutoring Business English using a wide range of books and other materials.
Susan lives with her husband Clive who is a private tutor. Susan and Clive have two grown up children. They do not live at home but they often visit and you may meet them. They also have a family cat called Bryony, who likes her own space and doesn’t enjoy too much attention. Both Susan and Clive are non-smokers. Susan is an active person and loves country walks, history and reading. She is happy to prepare gluten-free and dairy-free meals. Throughout the year, they also sporadically host other student learners but never of the same nationality as you, so that only English is ever spoken and practised at home.
Clive
Clive is a private tutor who likes walking, doing crosswords and watching snooker.
The home
Spacious and comfortable house with 4 bedrooms, a dining-room, study, conservatory, living-room, table-tennis room. The bedrooms are on the first floor and are bright and sunny. We provide bedding and towels for your convenience. We have three student bedrooms. One is a double bedroom with shower room ensuite. Another is a single bedroom with a bathroom and the third is a single bedroom with a shower ensuite. You are very welcome to spend time in the family living-room, playing games, watching TV or having a chat with us.

Location
In the village is a shop, pub, tennis courts and church. There is a bus service from the village to Newbury where there are shops, a museum and a sports centre. Nearby towns include Reading, Windsor and Oxford which can all be reached easily by train. There are half hourly trains to London which is 50 minutes away.
The family is happy to transfer students to and from Newbury Station by car. The surrounding countryside is very attractive and is an excellent place for walkers. There are many historic places nearby, including Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey), Whitchurch Silk Mill and Donnington Castle.
