Claire and Richard
I have the Cambridge CELTA qualification for teaching English to adults and worked over 20 years as a business manager in England. Now living in Brittany, I have been teaching English to adults since 2016, including one-to-one and groups. I enjoy focussing on ‘useful’ English tailored to the individual’s needs. My professional background is often helpful to understand the professional language needs of my students. My approach to teaching is relaxed, informal and fun.
We live in rural Brittany where we love the countryside and enjoy a relaxed and rural lifestyle. It is just us at home with a dog, a cat and a few chickens! Our two adult sons live in England and Dubai. We love sharing our beautiful environment in Brittany and visiting interesting towns and villages in the area. The local beaches are wonderful and the countryside is beautiful.
We have a traditional Breton farmhouse over 100 yrs old and about 3 hectares of land including woodland and some fruit trees.
We also have two self-contained gites next to the house. During the day, our students are fully immersed with us in our English life-style, including all meals and any other activities. Our students usually enjoy staying in one of our gites, where they have their own bathroom, toilet, kitchen facilities, lots of space and privacy for relaxing. It is possible for us to host more than one student at the same time. This would be perfect for friends, colleagues or a couple with similar English language needs.
This is an idyllic, rural area with lots of wildlife and very little local traffic. It is only a half an hour drive to major cities such as Brest, Quimper and plenty beautiful local villages or beaches. The area is popular for cycling (with lots of local hills), walking, local history and fishing.
Things to do
This is a very beautiful, quiet and rural area. A car is necessary to travel to local towns, shops or restaurants and other amenities. The area is very popular with amateur and professional cyclists (we enjoy watching the Tour de France when it comes to Brittany! )
