Carol lives on Spain’s Costa del Sol, which, as its name suggests, is blessed with 320 days of sunshine each year. The town of Benalmadena has three distinct areas, the costa (beach) The town Arroyo de la Miel and the Pueblo (beautiful mountain village), all these areas are accessible to guests who stay with Carol who’s 3 bedroomed apartment is located in the heart of Arroyo. Also, the apartment is only a few minutes away from the train station and bus routes that can take students to the city of Malaga and locations all down the beautiful coast of the Costa del Sol.

I have experience in a range of educational positions and have been teaching since 2015.
I had been a tutor delivering ‘Functional Skills Qualifications’ in English and Maths, working with students in construction, catering and engineering. I’ve had disengaged students against at having to attend lessons! To overcome this, I would plan engaging and motivating content based on their chosen vocational pathways, interests and hobbies. I use many activities that engage and motivate students so they can learn and develop their knowledge and skills whilst having fun.
In 2015, I made a huge decision to completely change my life and realised a long-held dream of living abroad in a sunny location. I therefore moved to Costa del Sol and the town of Arroy de la Miel. I recently developed an online distance learning company, delivering ‘Education and Training Qualifications’ to trainee teachers. A major benefit of this role is that it keeps me up to date with the most current theories, principles and models of teaching, learning and assessment, which I can then assimilate into my own practice. So with my wealth of experience and years of delivering creative and stimulating lessons based on each student’s individual needs, I’m always excited when welcoming new students into my home for their immersive courses in English. My personal hobbies are cooking, entertaining, walking, reading and dining out!
The home
3 bedroom apartment located on the second floor, it consists of a lounge, a modern kitchen and bathroom. The apartment has a small balcony overlooking the swimming pool but also has sunbathing areas around the pool and gardens. The guest room is very pleasant and has a study area for additional studies outside the arranged teaching hours. There is WiFi throughout the apartment. I will be pleased to have guests treat the house as their own and join me to watch English TV with a choice of many channels.
Location
I am fortunate to live in a place which allows me to enjoy a lot of time outdoors, going for walks, dining out al fresco, just relaxing by the pool or at the beach reading a book. It’s easy to enjoy a wide range of cultural/sport/entertainment events here, because the area is vibrant with tourism and I really like showing people around and taking them to all my special places. Arroyo is situated in the municipality of Benalmadena, Marbella is a short drive away, also the city of Malaga, a city rich in culture and the birthpace of Picasso is on my doorstep. I love the combination of living in a seaside town but having Malaga on my doorstep, I have some favourite cultural buildings and museums I like to show guests, then have a delicious meal in one of an abundance of restaurants in the exciting historical center, then finally having a last drink in one of the many roof-top terraces where you can get fabulous views of the city.
Things to do
In the other direction you can visit many great locations along the Costa as far as Gibraltar, or in two hours by car you can visit such exciting places as Seirra Navada, the Alhambra Palace, Sevilla and the breathtaking mountaintop city Ronda. Closer to home, within a few minutes walk there are shops, bars, restaurants and sporting facilities, such as gyms, paddle tennis and swimming on site, within our friendly development. For the golfer, there are literally dozens of courses, many to championship standard, on our little bit of coast. Fairs and fiestas take place every month between May and October with a chance to join in with the locals and experience true Andalucian flavour.

Other details
As I stated the apartment is in the heart of Arroyo de la Meil within a few steps from the apartment you are surrounded by tapas bars, restaurants and shops, there are also two large market days that take place one on a Wednesday and one on a Friday. Also, there is the breathtaking ‘Paloma Park’, a beautiful landscaped park with different areas of interest including a large lake area. Also we have a beautiful marina to walk to or take a short bus ride to where you have a choice of boat trips and again many bars, restaurants and shops.
