Melanie’s South African Travel Story, part 4

Melanie’s South African Travel Story, part 4
Day 7 – Sunday

After waking up slowly, we left for Kalk Bay with Gary and combined my lesson and lunch at Cape to Cuba. We then went for a walk in the city, searching for souvenirs for my family and friends. Afterwards, Gary brought me to a free market, close to Muizenberg and we ate some pineapple and pastries. It was really nice!
After coming back from Kalk Bay, I spent the little time that was left with my host family.
And then, with lots of emotion, that even took me by surprise, I had to say goodbye to this wonderful family that had welcomed me so warmly in their home, and got me to discover and love their beautiful country, its culture and language, to the point of hoping to return on a future trip. Thank you again for everything, I will never forget the picturesque places, friendly faces and this enchanting country.

Thank you for having spent time with me, taking me to discover Cape Town, accompanying me to many places and showing extreme kindness throughout this stay that will remain unforgettable to me.
Few words about Home Language International
Home Language International is a great program for learning a language while discovering a country, another culture while living in a warm and welcoming family. The progress was immediate and the environment friendly and enriching. The team is very reactive, keen to help and very professional. There is very good follow-up throughout the stay.
My progress in English
I really noticed an improvement in my English level. To start with, I was approximately level B1. Upon departure from South Africa, I was more or less level B2. I understood a lot more, could express myself a whole lot better and was able to hold a proper conversation.
I am delighted because my goals were to improve my English level and enjoy the trip. In the end, I made more progress than I expected, discovered South Africa and enjoyed its warm, bubbly and tender atmosphere. Moreover, I met the Davids family with whom I have stayed in contact.
This trip was an unexpected gift that taught me more than I could have imagined!
